The Lower National Safety Court found defendant Sulaiman Yahya Hamza as not criminally guilty of attempted murder of a number of policemen for terrorist ends.
The Court also sentenced Abdulla Mohammed Habib with five years in prison and two years in detention in accusation of attempted murder of a number of policemen for terrorist ends and damaging public property.
These initial rulings issued on Thursday by the Lower National Safety Court are not finalized; the defendants have the right to appeal against verdicts before the National Safety Appeal Court within a period of 15 days from the date of sentence.
The hearings are held in accordance with human rights laws and values in which judicial guarantees and requirements are in line of fair trial for all defendants. The Court assigned them with public defenders to represent their cases from the start of trial and preserve their guarantees during suspension.
The hearings that took place at the Lower National Safety Court were attended by a number of representatives from Human rights organizations in the Kingdom, local media, and relatives of victims and defendants.
