The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has unveiled a major tourism initiative with nine projects to be completed by 2015.
Shurooq, which participated in the ATM 2011, has received a large number of important visitors, including elite businessmen and investors as well as senior representatives from the leisure and tourism sector, and showcased its landmark projects.
Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal, Chief Executive Officer of Shurooq, lauded the Arabian Travel Market, stressing its importance as a platform for communication among tourism players and for providing opportunities of cooperation among various investors and institutions with the aim of enhancing the leisure and tourism market in the region.
“The tourism and hospitality sector in the emirate of Sharjah will see a tremendous growth over the coming years. In particular, Shurooq is set to complete nine exclusive projects by 2015,” said Al Sarkal, while speaking about Shurooq’s future plans.
He added that an advanced tourism vision will be implemented in these projects in accordance with international standards.
Several important meetings took place between Al Sarkal and a number of delegations and important visitors representing various sectors related to Shurooq’s activities at the Authority’s stand. Meetings were held with a group of senior government officials, including Ali Al Mahmoud, General Manager of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, and Ibrahim Saleh, Festivals Coordinator General at the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment.
Al Sarkal also held meetings with tourism representatives from various countries, including a delegation from Thailand comprised of Sobaborn Wan Lauh, Assistant Manager, Ratana Borjbakdi, Marketing Manager and Kalanio Amaranon, Commercial Promotion Coordinator of (Thai Trade office). The two parties discussed future tourism cooperation.
