The Supreme Council for Women held its first regular meeting for 2011 with the Women’s Support Center and a number of lawyers concerned in providing judicial assistance services and legal advice for women. This reflects the council’s keenness on all issues concerning the development of the provision of free legal assistance to women with complaints.
During the meeting, a number of legal issues were discussed, such as the expansion of judicial services, and improving methods of communication with law firms.
Acting General Director of Policies and Development Director of Women’s Support Center Dr. Dina Ahmed explained that Marriage Guidance service has been implemented which is one of the mandatory assessments that precedes the transmission of request to law firms and legislative courts for resolving family disputes, due to its vital role in achieving family stability. Noting that number of women with requests of legal assistance and advising marked 173 from the beginning of this year.
It is worth mentioning that this meeting takes place every three months, with the presence of respected lawyers such as Hassan Al Muharraqi, Mohammed Ya’aqoub, Huda Saad, Ebtisam Al Sabagh, Huda Al Shaer and Ghada Sulaibeekh.
