Reflecting its deep belief in the importance of national responsibility towards the nation and the society, Bahrain-based Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG) has donated the University of Bahrain of $400,000 to support ongoing rehabilitation of the university buildings.
The UoB Campus was affected by the events experienced by the Kingdom of Bahrain during the last period. “The donation is the initiative of Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Directors,” ABG in a statement said.
The donation was announce during the visit of the President and Chief Executive of Al Baraka Banking Group Adnan Ahmed Yousif accompanied by a number of senior members of Group. Present were Abdulrahman Shehab Senior Vice President Head of Operations and Administrative Affairs, and Hamad Eqab Senior Vice President Head of Financial Control, in addition to Mohamed Al Mutaweh Chief Executive Officer of Al Baraka Islamic Bank and Tariq Kazim Deputy General Manager of Al Baraka Islamic Bank to the University of Bahrain, where they were received by the University President, Dr. Ibrahim Al Janahi, with a number of University officials.
Adnan Ahmed Yousif expressed his hope that this step will contribute to the coherence and cohesion between all Bahrain people, and that the Group will help, through this amount, in return what was ruined in the University premises and the rehabilitation of the educational process at the University, stressing that this initiative is obligatory for everyone to support one of the largest educational institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Ibrahim Al Janahi, said that the University appreciates and values always the support of Al Baraka Banking Group to all ongoing activities of the University. The Group’s financial contribution is the pride of the University of the national role played by the Al Baraka.
Adnan also expressed at the conclusion of his speech his thanks and appreciation to the President and Executive Management of the University of Bahrain on the value of their efforts to continue the policy of modernization and development through the provision of best educational services for the people of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
