Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa on Saturday said the Kingdom of Bahrain emerged even stronger after a lull of protests in the recent past.
Shaikh Khalid expressed these views during a meeting with the US Congressman Democrat Dutch Ruppersberger and discussed ways of promoting historic bilateral relations bonding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the US.
Shaikh Khalid stressed the importance of bolstering ties, pointing out their depth in all fields.
“Bahrain has emerged even stronger in the aftermath of the unrest thanks to the landmark reforms it has undertaken over the past years”, he said, stressing the Kingdom’s firm resolve to pursue the reform process for the democratic strides to be consolidated even further. He described the lifting of the State of National Safety and the His Majesty’s call to engage in the national dialogue on July 1 as reflecting Bahrain’ political will to push ahead with progress and democracy. He stressed Bahrain’s role in consolidating regional and global security and stability. In this regard he cited Bahrain’s hosting of the fifth US Fleet and its participation in the international efforts in Afghanistan and the Libya Contact Group.
