The Bahrain Journalist Association (BJA) members are set to elect a new board during its general assembly convenes on Saturday.
The outgoing Secretary General of BJA Tariq Al Amar announced the general assembly of the association will convene at 9 am on Saturday at the Al Aruba Club in Juffair.
Al Amar called upon all association members to attend the general assembly and elect the new board members affirming the importance that the member had paid his membership dues. He said that the event would include the endorsing of the ethics report, work ethic charter and electing the board.
Al Amar announced the re-election of Isa Al Shaiji as President of the BJA because no one challenged his presidency prior to the closure of the election door.
He said that the elections would include the nomination of eight board members from a total of 15. Those who have nominated themselves include Mohannad Sulaiman, Director of Bahrain News Agency, Ahdeya Ahmed from Bahrain Radio and Television, Samah Alam; Al Watan, Monaess Al Mardi; Al Bilad, Ubaibly Al Ubaidly; Al Wasat, Jalil Omar; Al Ayam, Khalil Yousif; Al Ayam, Mohammed Al Ahmed; Al Ayam, Ahmed Al Moodab; Al Watan, Ehab Ahmed; Al Watan, Ahmed Zaman; Al Bilad, Mohammed Ismael; Layalina, Osama Mahran; Iswaq and Abdullah Al Mannai Akhbar Al Khaleej.
Al Amar highlighted the fact that this was the first time ever that a number of Editors-in-chief of various newspapers had submitted their nomination to be elected to the BJA board
