Bahrain on Saturday summoned the Iraqi diplomat at the Foreign Ministry and lodged a protest over the statements made by Iraqi MP Ahmed Al-Jalabi on Alsumaria Satellite TV Channel on June 2.
Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Regional Affairs and the GCC Hamad Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Amer conveyed Bahrain’s strong Stance to Iraqi Embassy Charge d’Affaires.
“Such statements are rejected as they encroach on Bahrain’s sovereignty and represent a blatant interference in its internal affairs”, he said, stressing that the Kingdom has always been keen on establishing good relations with Iraq. He pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain enjoys security and stability and its people are in no need for foreign aid.
“MP Ahmed should have channeled his aid the brotherly Iraqi people who suffers hardships, being deprived of security and stability”, he said.
Al-Amer asked the Iraqi diplomat to convey Bahrain’s stance to her government out of keenness on the good relations bonding Bahrain and Iraq.
“Such statements made by a responsible Iraqi Mp, who heads a parliamentary bloc, are detrimental to bilateral relations and reflect behaviours which may strain ties”, he added.
