Parliament Speaker and Chairman of the Bahrain National Dialogue Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani announced that the chairmanship of the National Dialogue has received more than 150 views and issues for the National Dialogue.
He added that the participants would be representing political societies, civil society organisations, and media along with prominent figures in the society in order to ensure that the various segments of the Bahraini society are represented at the National Dialogue sessions.
The Chairmanship of the National Dialogue will start sorting and categorising the topics as per the work mechanisms and the themes set for the National Dialogue i.e. political, economic, rights and social. The topics received by the Dialogue’s management included a number of issues such as social demands, political and rights related recommendations.
“The coming period is historically important for Bahrain”, Al Dhahrani said, adding that, “Bahrain is facing challenges that should be delicately approached”. “The national dialogue is the best way for overcoming the challenges and for achieving the national targets”, Al Dhahrani indicated, emphasising the importance of the National Dialogue as a means for backing Bahrain’s continuous democratic reforms.
Al Dhahrani expressed his appreciation to all authorities, organisations and prominent figures that positively responded to the dialogue invitation, and said, “Such a response is clear evidence of Bahrainis’ avidity towards attaining national action for the interest of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The National Dialogue sessions are scheduled to start on Saturday, the 2nd of July, 2011 at Isa Cultural Center. The National Dialogue chairmanship has received views and recommendations about issues related to parliament, cabinet, electoral districts, citizenship, financial and administrative corruption, and sectarian affliction. Other issues up for discussion will include salaries increase, raising standards of living, retirement pensions, private sector workers salaries, youth support, future economic plans, the role of Bahrain’s chamber of commerce and industry, conformity of education to labour market needs, supporting professional societies and labour unions, and media and press legislations
