Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa met in Washington US Congressman James McGovern, in the presence of Washington-based Human Rights Watch Office Director Tom Malinowski and Richard Sollom from Physicians for Human Rights.
He also met Congressman and Head of the Middle East Committee Steve Chabot.
Discussions focused on outstanding bilateral relations in various fields as well as the US support to Bahrain.
Shaikh Khalid informed them about the kingdom’s efforts to boost democratic achievements brought about by the royal reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He stressed Bahrain’s commitment to the national dialogue called for by HM the King in order to further promote national achievements.
The Foreign Minister asserted that Bahrain has overcome the recent crisis and is in a new phase seeking to create a national consensus through dialogue. He also underlined the kingdom’s keenness to safeguard human rights out of a strong conviction that protecting human rights is the pathway to progress and prosperity.
