His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa met on Friday evening in New York with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.
The meeting reviewed topics of mutual interests and developments in Bahrain. His Royal Highness expressed appreciation for the support of the UN Secretary General for the Kingdom of Bahrain during the recent developments and his keenness on its stability and the success of efforts for dialogue in the Kingdom.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince affirmed that Bahrain was steadily moving towards a new era due to the efforts to enhance continued democratic assets through the reform scheme led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
His Royal Highness also underlined the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to comprehensive national dialogue called by His Majesty the King to reach a consensus among all sections of the society through democratic bodies. This, His Royal Highness said, would lead us to reinforcing national unity and maintaining stability.
His Royal Highness also emphasized the solid belief and commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to human rights principles and its respect for basic freedoms, such as those of assembly and opinion within the framework of legitimacy, law and constitution.
Ban Kin Moon welcomed the invitation of His Majesty the King for dialogue and urged all sides to engage in it to reach a consensus that would be in the interest of the whole Bahraini society and ensure stability, security and progress.
The UN Secretary General said His Majesty the King was a reforming leader who has achieved a lot for his country.
Ban Ki Moon looked forward to continuing this path that would benefit the people of Bahrain and the region.
