With Bahrain is gearing up for the National Dialogue scheduled to kick start from July 1, Parliament Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani has been appointed by Royal Order to chair the dialogue and moderate the sessions.
HM King Hamad on Saturday underlined the importance of the effective participation in the National Dialogue to make this initiative a result oriented.
“Openness to different points of view, transparency and readiness to reach common understandings and solutions that reflect our national unity and social values are essential pre-requisites for meeting the expectations of all parties in the Kingdom and ensuring the continuity of the development, progress and reform marches,” HM said, while commenting on the appointment of Khalifa Al Dhahrani to Chair the National Dialogue.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued a Royal Order appointing the Parliament Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani as Chairman of the National Dialogue due to start on July 1.
His Royal Highness Prime Minster Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Princess Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince congratulated Al Dhahrani on being appointed through Royal Order to Chair the National Dialogue.
Al Dhahrani was entrusted with this national mission thanks to the “trust” enjoyed by him among MPs and owing to his “experience and prominent role in national work.”
His Royal Highness Prime Minster Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa welcomed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Order appointing the Parliament Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani to chair the National Dialogue due to start on July 1.
HRH Premier praised HM King Hamad’s Order testifying the pivotal role played by constitutional institutions in the reform and progress marches and a recognition of the importance of the Representatives Council as a symbol of popular will.
HRH Prime Minister also pointed out that the Royal Order HM King Hamad’s appreciation of the key national role played by Al Dhahrani, asserting that the Parliament Chairman is fully fit for the position as he is widely accepted by all sides and owing to his national position and experience in national work.
HRH Premier took pride in HM King Hamad’s directives to the Executive and Legislative branches to call for a National Dialogue, affirming the two sides have embarked on a dialogue on the requirements and mechanisms of that dialogue ever since HM the King’s directives were issued.
HRH Prince Khalifa pledged that the government will take part in the dialogue effectively, cooperate with all sides and provide all support needed to reach national consensus so as to ensure a better future for the Kingdom, in line with HM King Hamad’s aspirations, and achieve national cohesion and harmony in order to ensure the continuity of the kingdom’s political, economic and social progress.
His Royal Highness Princess Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander congratulated the Chairman of the Representative Council Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani on the Royal trust to chair the National Dialogue. His Royal Highness in the letter he had sent to Al Dhahrani on the occasion of His Majesty the King’s appointment said that it affirmed His Majesty’s keenness that the nation’s will becomes the prime motivator for this dialogue on the basis of national agreement.
His Royal Highness wished Al Dhahraini success in undertaking this national duty affirming his support for the Chairman towards achieving the objectives set by the Kingdom of Bahrain related to development, democracy, justice and equality.
Al Dhahrani hailed the Royal Order entrusting him to chair the national dialogue. He described the charge as an enormous trust towards the nation and people, as Bahrain finds itself in a dire need for consensus, looking for common denominators in the framework of national unity and social values. “
Under the Royal Order, preparations are in full swing for the national dialogue to start on July 1 as desired by His Majesty King Hamad”, he said. He stressed the importance of all citizens’ active participation and openness on all visions and views. He revealed that the legislative and executive authorities had discussed the requirements of the national dialogue–including administrative and technical procedures and other prerequisites.
“The legislative authority will run and organize the dialogue, during which all political, economic, social and service issues will be tabled”, he said.
He revealed that the mechanism of the national dialogue would engage all concerned parties. He also pledged to leave no stone unturned to reach a consensus on key issues and bridge the gap between all stances to come out with visions that contribute to promoting the march of reforms even further to meet all citizens’ hopes.
Al-Dhahrani said invitations would be sent within days, adding that mechanisms to communicate with all sides would be announced. These include political associations, NGOs, and the media. A national dialogue website will also be launched as a further catalyst to interact with the issues which will be debated.
