Bahrain on Monday hosted over 300 delegates and 28 exhibitors from across the region, reinforcing Kingdom’s position as rapidly emerging ICT hub in the region.
The two-day MEET ICT 2011 Conference and Expo opened by Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Cabinet during an opening ceremony held at the Crowne Plaza, Hotel.
“Today, technology and innovation have become the key factors that contribute to the economic growth in both advanced and developed countries, forming a solid platform to build a modern and an efficient knowledge-based economy that attracts foreign direct investments and creates employment opportunities; a milestone to economic sustainability,” Kamal Ahmed said.
“In the Kingdom of Bahrain, we have recognized that information and communication technologies play an important role in contributing to the rapid progression and productivity growth to our business environment for international companies seeking to invest in the Gulf. Therefore, we have aimed in spreading knowledge as well as the best practices in the ICT field to assist the Bahraini society in implementing Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030m,” he added.
“The MEET ICT is an implemented vision that assembles elite experts in the field of information and communication technology and creates a knowledge platform based expertise exchange. The contributions and the cooperation of the private and the government sectors are essential in driving the ICT innovation and supporting Bahrain’s economic growth that is driven towards enhancing the different fields of technologies,” he added.
“I am confident that with such events and experiences, the Kingdom will be able to showcase our initiatives worldwide and become recognize and acknowledged as a regional ICT hub,” the Minister said.
“We have always been a technological pioneer in the ICT field in the Gulf region, and the Kingdom of Bahrain is witnessing a rapid rate of innovation in the ICT sector due to its ideal approach to new technologies and its focus on exchanging experiences as well as expertise,” he said.
