With a portfolio of over $10 billion Omran, the Oman Government’s leading tourism-related investment, development and management company held talks with Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and exploring avenues of co-operation.
Shurooq delegation led by Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, held talks with Omran led Omran CEO Wael bin Ahmed Al Lawati, as well as a number of the company’s senior representatives.
The meeting, during which a number of issues were discussed with the aim of opening new vistas of cooperation that will serve the interests of both parties in developing the tourism sector in the region and exchanging experiences in this regard, was attended by Elie Armaly, Business Development Director, Shurooq.
They were briefed on a host of projects carried out by Omran during the last few years and its plans for future projects. Both sides discussed possible co-operation in all vital sectors showing the willingness to strengthen mutual cooperation between Shurooq and Omran in light of relations between the two brotherly countries.
“The UAE and Oman have enjoyed a longstanding relationship thanks to their geographical proximity and socio-economic similarities. Therefore, the mutual cooperation in developing the tourism sector in the region and exchanging experiences and studies will have positive results and will help meet the sector’s needs in the region,” Al Sarkal said.
“Omran has excellent experience in developing the tourism sector with a portfolio of tourism projects worth $10 billion, which has generated positive returns for the tourism sector and the national economy. This is what encouraged us to visit Omran, to familiarize ourselves with a successful GCC model in this field, and to discuss ways of mutual cooperation. We hope that visits between the two parties will continue,” Al Sarkal added.
