As many as 800 delegates from all five continents are set to attend the 1st Middle East Process Engineering Conference and Exhibition 2011 (MEPEC 2011) in Bahrain in October this year, the organizers say.
Organized by Saudi Arabian Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (SAS-AIChE) chaired by A Mohsen Almajnouni and the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE) led by Majeed AlGassab, supported by AIChE, the event will be held under the patronage of Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Energy, Kingdom of Bahrain.
“The conference significance stems from deepening communications and exchanging experiences among participants, through conducting an integrated technical program discussing important topics,” A. Mohsen Almajnouni, Conference Chairman, told a Press conference held at the Gulf Hotel.
“The Conference and Exhibition serves as an excellent opportunity for sharing knowledge, experiences and lessons learned on contemporary issues affecting industries that are process engineering related,” he added.
“In its first edition, MEPEC witnessed overwhelming response, with over 44 exhibitors from many local, regional, and international companies, suppliers, manufacturers participating in the exhibition held in parallel with the conference. MEPEC is sponsored by 32 companies, Saudi Aramco as the prime sponsor.”
“The Conference will provide a unique platform for Process and Chemical Professionals to network and learn about the latest development in the field of chemical processing, understand the constantly evolving trends, technologies, products and solutions to the challenges faced by chemical industries, motored by the conference theme “Towards Technological Excellence and Innovative Solutions,” he said.
The Conference will bring together hundreds of experts from all over the world to share practical experiences, most innovative ideas and strategies for cutting costs and maximizing Return On Investment (ROI) in process engineering issues related to plant design, operation and maintenance.
“Over the years, the Bahrain Society of Engineers have been a part of various memorable conferences and exhibitions, and let me share this with you all… we always have high expectations and we most certainly constantly achieve them, supported by a motivated voluntary members and reputable partners such as Saudi Aramco, SABIC, NOGA to mention a few, and it appears as if the momentum is continuing by hosting MEPEC this year,” Abdul Majeed Al Gassab, President of the Bahrain Society of Engineers, said.
“We look forward to the discussions this October, hopefully, the free flow of information motored by the event’s theme “Towards Technological Excellence and Innovative Solutions” will contribute to fostering the best solutions and strategies,” he added.
Nine keynote speakers have so far confirmed from Saudi Aramco, UOP-Honewell, Axens, World Chemical Engineering Council, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Gulf Publishing Company, KBR, Dupont and Lummus.
“We have achieved a tremendous amount of success to date, with over 32 sponsors and 44 exhibitors and 143 speakers from GCC countries, Europe, South Africa, USA, among others who are eager to meet under one roof and debate on the importance of process engineering as a vital component in the automated operation and monitoring of complex technical processes, and to highlight its significant role in equipping the project team with an efficient and lean development process.”
