Ministry of Works’ Undersecretary, Nayef Omar Al-Kalali, announced that completion and operation of the Remote Aircraft Apron project at Bahrain International is progressing according to plan 4 stands out of 9 have been handed over to the Airport and are now operational.
The overall progress percentage is 96%, while the final completion is targeted by end of July 2011. ‘This project is part of the overall development plan of Bahrain International Airport, which aims to develop and enhance the efficiency of airport’s facilities and support the ability of Bahrain to compete in the aviation market in line with Bahrain Vision 2030,” said Al Kalali.
‘The Ministry of Works has been involved in a number of vital projects under this development plan such as the construction of the New Control Tower, Upgrading of the Parallel Taxiway and Rehabilitation of the main Runway in addition to this project,’ he added.
This project aims to provide parking stands equipped with multi aircraft ramp system (MARS) which is capable of handling either 8 large body and one small body (total 9) airplanes or seventeen small body aircrafts, and with new apron Taxiway and 2 new links to the parallel Taxiway. The stands were designed to accommodate the latest generation of mega carriers.
These stands will be fitted with the latest advanced technology of the Ground Services Equipment (GSE) providing pre-conditioned air; 400HZ power supply, potable and blue water supplies, sewage evacuation by vacuum.
