The Information Affairs Authority has notified the BBC news channel after broadcasting a news report without indicating that it’s archival material, leading viewers to believe that it covers fresh protests in Bahrain. The channel broadcast a news report titled “Thousands rallied in a massive protest demanding reform in Bahrain”, dating back to June 11.
It included archive footage relating to the deplorable incidents which gripped the Kingdom of Bahrain recently. Publications director-general and press and external information acting director-general Nawaf Mohammed Al-Maawda called on all media to observe accuracy and objectivity and project the true image. “Bahrain’s doors are open for all audio-visual and print media to visit and ensure the true situation as normal life is steadily returning to the country,” he said.
