Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Dr. Essam Abdulla Fakhro called upon the need to intensify tourist functions in the coming period in order to take advantage of the summer season.
Dr. Fakhro stressed that tourist media campaigns inside and outside the Kingdom should be stepped up in order to project a good image of the country and highlight its rich historical sites and investment opportunities so as to attract foreign visitors and woo investors.
Speaking during a meeting organized by SKAL International Bahrain on the role that BCCI can play to activate the tourism sector, Dr. Fakhro asserted that the tourism and hotels sector has been the most affected by the regretful incidents that gripped the kingdom recently.
“The negative impacts of the crisis are still there,” BCCI Chairman admitted, adding that symptoms of recovery are emerging amid the lifting of the State of National Safety, restoration of security and stability across the kingdom.
He stressed the importance of exploring innovative ideas and solutions for the tourism sector to emerge from the crisis through the organisation of sport, artistic and cultural events and holding festivals and exhibitions, in which the Kingdom plays in leading role.
Dr. Fakhro pointed out that the private sector in the kingdom, owing to its high potentials, can avail of the kingdom’s advanced infrastructure and plays a major role in revitalizing the tourism and hotels sector in order to enhance tourism development and increase the kingdom’s revenues.
Citing the freezing of a five-per- cent government fee, he asserted that BCCI has exerted tremendous efforts to upgrade the tourism and hotels sector.
He also described the meeting as fruitful and successful, praising the efforts of SKAL International Bahrain, led by Mohammed Buzizi in this regard.
Mohammed Buzizi lauded the essential role played by BCCI to enhance the tourism and hotels sector in the Kingdom.
