The Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro received Bill Famer, the independent auditor for livestock trade in Australia and the accompanying delegation in the presence of Ebrahim Zainal the chairman of Bahrain Livestock Company.
Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro welcomed the visiting Australian delegation and reviewed the economic relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Australia and the areas to develop these relationships at all levels and to increase the pace of cooperation between the two friendly countries and encourage the private sector on the matter of joint investments.
The meeting also discussed Bahrain’s most significant foodstuffs’ imports from Australia particularly sheep.
Australia is the first source of sheep for the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Australian delegation emphasized the continuation of everlasting trade with Bahrain within reasonable limits in order to maintain the safety of animals during transportation, in the preservation areas and the means of slaughtering animals which should be according to the standards endorsed by international organizations in terms of prevention of cruelty to animals.
Bill Farmer expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce for their great support and cooperation in order familiarize them with all information regarding livestock and animals’ rearing in the Kingdom of Bahrain and he welcomed such cooperation and expressed his readiness to present the necessary expertise in order to develop this field.
