Bahrain is set to host a modern Japanese architectural expo next February as part of celebrations marking “Manama, Capital of Arab Culture 2012”.
Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa received Japanese Ambassador Hideo Sato and agreed on hosting the events.
They also discussed bilateral relations, particularly cultural ties.
Shaikha Mai paid tribute to Japanese composer, pianist, conductor and singer Missa Johnouchi, who conducted Bahrain’s Musical Ban in the concert which was hosted by the Kingdom on the sidelines of the meetings of the 35th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
Renowned Japanese conductor and composer Missa Johnouchi, was designated UNESCO Artist for Peace by former UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura at a ceremony at the Teikoku Hotel in Tokyo on 21 August 2006.
