Renowned Canadian group Théâtre Tout à Trac pulled the audience away into a magical world of endless possibilities at the debut of the Alice in Wonderland play at the fully-packed Cultural Hall for two consecutive days.
The performance, the first ever for the group outside of North America, connected with the audience with its universal themes of childhood innocence and the journey to self-discovery that have endeared this classic fairytale to millions of people across the globe. Using a mix of live actors and clever props and tricks, the cast delivers the story with a humorous spin that amuses adults and children alike.
For seekers of extravagant dance performances, the “Merchants of Bollywood” (July 21 – 22.at 8 pm at the Exhibition Center) is a show not to be missed. The show explores a multitude of themes through the epic journey of a modern young girl, her traditional grandfather, and the generational conflict between the two.
The last featured show of the festival, “Gergian Legend: Samaia’s Little Virtuosos” (July 25 – 26 at 7 pm at the Exhibition Center) offers a dance performance of a different flavor. The show showcases the traditional dance of the Caucasus region – known worldwide for its fast pace and complex choreographed movements – performed by a group of talented 7 – 14 talented youngsters.
In addition, daily events are held free of charge until July 31st at the “Nakhool Tent” next to Arad Fort featuring family-friendly cultural activities from 5 to 10 pm.
Tickets for the shows held at the Cultural Hall are distributed one-hour before the show’s start venue on a first-come first-served basis, while those held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center are available at the festival kiosk Bahrain City Center and at the venue the day of the show, space permitting.
