His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at The Élysée Palace, in the presence of Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa.
HRH Prince Salman updated the French leader on the situation and developments in Bahrain.
He pointed out the measures undertaken for Bahrain to remain harmonious, cohesive, safe and democratic, where fraternity reigns amongst people.
He also stressed the importance for Bahrain to resume its development momentum under the reform project led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
“Bahrain people firmly believes in fundamentals, norms and diverse opinions, and holds them in full respect, without any discrimination”, he said.
He paid tribute to HM King Hamad, describing his call to engage in the National Dialogue as confirming the principle of community partnership conducive to the desired results that best serve the public interest.
HRH Prince Salman hailed the Royal Order establishing the Royal Independent Fact-finding Commission to investigate recent events in Bahrain.
“The initiative translates on the ground HM the King’s drive which is based on democracy, freedom, transparency and justice”, he said.
President Sarkozy expressed his admiration and reaffirmed his support for the HM King Hamad’s initiatives and steps, whether the national dialogue or the establishment of the independent probe commission, describing the moves as reflecting his resolve to continue the reform project and democratic path, which is based on openness and transparency.
He also wished HM King Hamad and Bahrain people all the best. Head of Crown Prince’s Court Shaikh Khalifa bin Daij Al-Khalifa attended.
