The meeting will take place between 2.30 and 4pm. The BICI has invited members of political and civil societies and a number of various national societies that represent the civil community to attend and has endeavored to ensure that a wide spectrum of Bahrain’s society is represented. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
“I am pleased to be joined by my fellow Commissioners here in Bahrain. At this meeting, we shall explain what the Commission is about – its mandate and procedures and answer questions,” said Professor
Bassiouni.
The Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry was established on 29 June 2011, in the Kingdom of Bahrain pursuant to Royal Order No. 28 by His Majesty, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The BICI is mandated
to “investigate and report on the events occurred in Bahrain on February/March 2011, and any subsequent consequences arising out of the aforementioned events, and to make such recommendations as it may deem appropriate”.
