Supreme Council for Women’s secretary-general Hala Al-Ansari hailed the formation of an Equal Opportunities’ Unit in the Shura Council upon a resolution issued from Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al-Saleh and she urged other official institutions to follow the same path. She pointed out that this translates the strategy for Bahraini women’s renaissance launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Monarch of the Kingdom of Bahrain and comes in harmony with Bahrain Vision 2030.
She explained that the Equal Opportunities’ Unit in the Shura Council is an enactment of the national model for merging women’s needs promulgated by the Supreme Council for Women upon conclusion of 1st National Women’s Conference under the kind auspices of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).
She also pointed out that the Equal Opportunities’ Unit is an effective mechanism for empowering working women and increasing their awareness about their rights, roles and realization of egalitarianism between men and women.
It is worth citing that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Monarch of the Kingdom of Bahrain had earlier issued Royal Decree No. (14) for the year 2011AD regarding creation and organization of the National Committee presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa President of the Supreme Council for Women with membership of SCW Deputy President, SCW Secretary-General, Minister of Human Rights and Social Development, CEO of the Economic Development Board, Shura Council’s Women and Child Affairs’ Committee head and the Bahrain Women’s Union head.
