In response to overwhelming demand from the general public, the Ministry of Culture decided to move a pair of the free Bahrain Summer Festival shows originally slated to take place at the Cultural Hall to the much bigger venue at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center (BIECC). The two shows will remain free of charge and be distributed at the venue on a first-come first-serve basis on the day of the performance.
The relocated shows include the thumping drum beats of “The Dhol Foundation”, whose tracks were featured in Hollywood blockbusters “Gangs of New York” and “The Incredible Hulk”, (July 18th at 8 pm), and “Georgian Legend – Samaia’s Little Virtuosos” (July 25 – 26 at 7 pm) performed by a group of talented 7 – 14 year olds who will present the fast-paced Georgian folk dance that make the Caucasus region famous world round.
The public is encouraged to call the festival’s hotline (+973 8000 8089) from 8 am to 10 pm for any inquiries regarding this announcement.
In addition to these shows, the dreamy world of yet another kid-favorite, “Alice in Wonderland” (July 20th – 21st at 5pm, Cultural Hall) will be brought to life by the gifted cast of Canadian theater troupe “Théâtre Tout à Trac”. The much anticipated “Merchants of Bollywood” musical (July 21st and 22nd at 8 pm, BIECC) wraps up the week. Utilizing the signature energy and lavish costumes synonymous with Bollywood dancing, the performance follows the epic adventure of a young girl, her grandfather, and their shared love of Kathak dance
“Nakhool Tent”, located next to Arad Fort, will be open as usual to the public from 5:00 – 10:00 pm, offering free educational and entertaining cultural activities. The Ministry of Culture also coordinated with various hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, and public theme parks to offer a wide variety of promotional packages.
Tickets for the paid shows can be obtained through the festival kiosk in Bahrain City Center or at the venue on the day of the performance, space permitting.
