Bapco Toastmasters Club, in coordination with the Filipino Club Toastmasters, organized a Youth Leadership Program (YLP) for the children of Bapco employees as part of the Summer Camp from 05 July to 26 July 2011.
Chief Executive Faisal Al Mahroos visited the workshop on the first class of the programme on 05 July and he expressed his appreciation for the efforts put by the young leaders, their parents and the coordinators. In return, the coordinators thanked the Chief Executive for the company’s continuous support and sponsorship of Bapco’s YLP for 5 consecutive years.
Toastmasters International’s YLP is an informal course in communications created to help develop the speaking and leadership skills of young people ages 11 to 17. The program had 8 sessions in all and the Graduation Ceremony was held on 31 July 2011. Thirty two young leaders between the age 11 and 17 years participated in this program. At each session, participants learnt speech preparation and presentation; how to conduct meetings; effective listening skills; how to evaluate/offer helpful advice and participate in/lead group discussions or meetings.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the YLP, Guest of Honor Naji Ahmed, Acting Manager of Public Relations said that such program are very helpful in developing communication skills and leadership traits amongst the young leaders which will help them in their future life.
The closing ceremony included three contests and in each contest, a total of six contestants participated. YLP program completion certificates were distributed to all the participants.
The young leaders were trained by Coordinators Majeed Dhaif, Fatima Fakhro and Alex Ginete from Bapco Toastmasters Club as well as Vicky Cacayan, Sheryl Serafin and Amor Della Cruz from Filipino Club Toastmasters.
The closing ceremony was attended by YLP participants, their parents, the program coordinators and officials from the PR Department.
