Batelco, as part of its commitment to fostering sports in the Kingdom is sponsoring the participation of a Batelco Team in the Bahrain Squash League which is being organised and supervised by the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF). Batelco has provided team kits and equipment and additionally is providing the use of its courts at Batelco Staff Centre plus snacks and refreshments on match nights for all participants.
Thirteen teams have entered the Bahrain Squash League 2011 which began in April and will continue until November when the overall champions will be crowned based on accumulated points won over the season.
Batelco Group General Manager Media Relations Ahmed Al Janahi said that Batelco is happy to support a Batelco Squash Team as part of the Company’s efforts to deliver additional benefits for staff and additionally to support the BBSF in their great efforts to rekindle the sport of squash in Bahrain.
“Participation in the sporting arena breaks down barriers between all ages and cultures and accordingly Batelco is proud to be among the leading companies in Bahrain recognised for their support to a wide range of sporting activities,” he added.
Batelco Squash Team captain Jalil Shaheen said that following a long break from competitive squash due to the lack of a squash league for a few years that Batelco’s team were doing well and currently stand at the midway point in the League table.
“Our players are working hard to improve their fitness and skills and we hope to move further up the table as the league continues. Everyone is really enjoying the opportunity to represent Batelco and we all appreciate the efforts of the Company to support us with sponsorship,” he added.
Batelco’s sponsorship forms part of its commitment to foster sports for residents of the Kingdom at local, regional and international events.
