Information Affairs Authority President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa reaffirmed resolve to carry out developed media plans and strategies. Under the scheme, all IAA departments would be modernized, integrating cutting edge technologies as part of the 2011-16 media strategy.
Shaikh Fawaz was speaking as he received Mohammed Salahuddin, head of Mohammed Salah Engineering Consulting Bureau, who presented an initial concept for the new Bahrain Radio and TV headquarters.
Shaikh Fawaz praised the proposed concept of the project, saying that it would bolster the march of the media in Bahrain, once approved by the Cabinet.
He hailed the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, to promote the media in Bahrain and abroad to project the Kingdom’s developments achievements in all fields.
The six-storey building will feature main studios for news, programme production, and Bahrain channel 55.
It will also include other studios for TV programmes covering the activities of Bahrain TV and the Sport Channel, in addition to hi-tech radio studios.
The state-of-the-art building would also include administrate premises of Bahrain TV, radio, the news, in addition to the engineering facilities, which comprise control rooms and to facilitate the implementation of high resolution digital broadcasting technologies and High Definition “HD” systems.
All studios and control rooms will be grouped in one building to avert any image or sound interruption and overcome the defects of horizontal premises. The existing facilities of the Bahrain Radio and Television Corporation date back to 1973.
A technical study conducted by a consultancy firm in cooperation with the Works Ministry declared some of these premises dilapidated.
