The Minister of Labour Jameel bin Mohammed Humaidan on Friday assured the members of the business community that all possible steps were being taken to address the immediate challenges being faced by the Kingdom including unemployment, labour laws, labour market and smooth sailing of businesses.
Minister Humaidan, who was chief guest at the weekly meeting of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry held at the Baitul Tajjar, said that it was the duty of the legislators, opinion leaders, media and the Ministry of labour to confront those challenges the country faces on the labour fronts.
Earlier, the Chairman of the BCCI Dr Esam Fakhro along with the board member of the Chamber welcomed the Minister and his team including the newly appointed LMRA CEO Osama Al Alabsi for taking time and discussing the issues in frank, cordial and informal atmosphere.
Dr Fakhro also pointed out the BCCI’s position on the fate and challenges being faced by the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Kingdom and vowed to provide all possible support to this segment of the economy which constitute almost 90 per cent of the total industry.
The BCCI meeting focuses on labour issues and economic stability and was attended by senior officials concerned by the labour sector who discussed the labour issues as well as status of the economic stability in the country.
BCCI Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Ahmed Allanjawi was among those who welcome the BCCI board members and guests urged them to take part in the last and fourth meeting set for next Friday.
He stressed the importance of the issue, pointing out its crucial impact on the public and private sectors.
He also described the majlis as a key platform for businessmen and concerned officials to debate the issued and exchange viewpoints.
