As a global leader providing innovative solutions to the power generation industry for nearly three decades and in response to the industry needs for a stronger technical foundation when employing guided wave technologies, Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SI) announced the acquisition of the Inspection Services Group from FBS, Inc. (FBS) of State College, Pennsylvania.
Concurrent with the acquisition, a strategic alliance between SI and FBS has been established to expand SI’s current service offerings through the introduction of new guided wave technologies for Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) and/or Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) of piping systems and other critical components.
With some of the industry’s foremost experts in wave mechanics, sensor and instrumentation design, application studies and feature based signal processing, FBS leads in the development and manufacturing of guided wave products and solutions addressing the challenges of various industries. More recently FBS has become recognized as an industry leader in providing inspection services based on guided wave ultrasonic systems, products and technologies that have established a higher level of confidence and acceptance in the application of guided wave testing technology. Fully integrating the technological expertise and these advanced technologies from FBS with Structural Integrity’s engineering, materials and technical support services will further advance the value and benefit of their assessment programs that include the application of Guided Wave Technologies.
“Our focus remains aligned with our Core Values, Mission and the future vision of Structural Integrity as an energy company”, said Laney Bisbee, President of Structural Integrity Associates, Inc.
“This acquisition and partnership will have strategic benefits for our entire customer base; from the challenges of the Nuclear Buried Piping Integrity Initiative, to the discovery and implementation of Structural Health Monitoring systems that provides the highest degree of confidence in safety and reliability not only for our existing energy sources but for those to be created.”
Founder and President of FBS, Dr. Joseph L. Rose, is a recognized industry leader and foremost advisor in guided wave ultrasonic technology. Dr. Rose holds more than fifteen patents and has authored numerous textbooks and articles on ultrasonic NDE, wave mechanics, guided waves, medical ultrasound, adhesive bonding, concrete, pipe, tubing and composite material inspections. “FBS remains focused on maintaining leadership in guided wave technology transfer, consulting services, and product development for all aspects of NDE and SHM,” said Rose. “FBS enthusiastically looks forward to its strategic partnership and cooperative efforts with SIA for improving and expanding the guided wave inspection services business.”
