Seventy-five candidates are in the fray for this month’s by-elections, it was announced on Saturday. A total of 187,080 eligible voters will cast their ballots on September 24, Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission President and Elections Executive Committee Chief Executive Abdulla bin Hasan Al Buainain, said.
The final candidates’ lists will be announced later on Saturday when the candidates will be able to apply to register their agents at the supervisory committees.
“The agents should be in the voters’ lists of their constituencies,” Al Buainain added.
He said the candidates can collect a copy of the voters’ list of their constituencies from the supervisory centres in the governorates on Saturday between 5pm to 8pm.
Al Buainain stressed the importance of not including any official logo of the government or the elections committee in campaign advertisements.
