Ahmed Al Saati, the independent candidate from the A’Ali and Salmabad area told the Bahrain News Agency that he was confident of a victory because his candidacy was a result of the people of a huge area compelling
him. “I have full confidence in winning this by-election,” he said.
The people want their voice to be heard and their issues to be redressed, he said. “I was hesitant to enter the polls, but they compelled and so it is I am quite confident,” said Al Saati.
He said he represented old and new Salmabad and the A’Ali Village. Among the key issues in this area are housing and unemployment. Secondary issue here –
and that needs to be taken on a long term – is the issue of the pottery village and the burial mounds.
“The time I have in parliament is very short and there are many issues of importance to be resolved – including the publishing law and the tourism project. However, the most important to me will be addressing the unemployment issue and housing,” said Al Saati.
“Social laws are more important than political laws and it will be the duty of every elected member to follow the issues that their constituencies throw up,” he added. “The people are now very demanding and they can be expected to reach the member at any time. They expect the member to be accessible and rightly so,” he added.
“Participating in the elections as a candidate is a must, as it shows that we want the wheels of democracy to roll and not come to a grinding halt,” he said.
