Dr. Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar, the King’s Advisor for Public Diplomacy and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic and International and Energy Studies, participated in the 5th Review Conference of the Global Strategy, which began on Thursday, September 8th 201 in Geneva, Switzerland, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
The conference is attended by a number of experts and global strategists, led by Dr. Amr Moussa, presidential candidate of the Arab Republic of Egypt and former secretary-general of the Arab League, His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Chairman of King Faisal Center for Islamic Studies and the Turkish Republic’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and the Republic of Brazil’s, Foreign Minister Dr. Antonio Patriota, ministers of foreign affairs, defense ministers as well as senior officials from various countries .
The three-day long conference discussed many of the issues and strategic matters, including the strategic transformations in the Middle East and North Africa, Iran and security in the Arabian Gulf, nuclear proliferation, assessment of US-Russian relations, the Egyptian democratic transformation and configuration of strategy, and the newly emerging: military capabilities, South Korea’s nuclear progress and political success, the dynamics of the new strategies, and transformations in North Africa and the Middle East, the role of the European Union, India and Pakistan and prospects for dialogue, and long-term strategy in Afghanistan and global implications and, finally, talking about American foreign policy.
Dr. Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar said that his participation in this important conference partly comes in view of the regional and international variables which produced a new global reality and accelerated events.
