The autopsy report ruled out teargas inhalation in the tragic death of 14-year old Bahraini youth Ali Jawad Ahmed, who died on Wednesday morning at 9.15am.
The Head of Public Prosecution at the Capital Governorate, Osama Al Asfoor said that when a doctor undertook an autopsy in the presence of Public Prosecution personnel, the doctor concluded that the cause of death of the boy was an injury sustained behind the neck, where there were fractures causing bleeding around the spinal cord.
“More information is emerging about the tragic death of a 14-year-old boy, Ali Jawad Ahmad, who died in Sitra in North East of Bahrain early on Wednesday,” according to a statement issued by the Information Affairs Authority (IAA).
Al Asfoor said that a blood examination of the deceased by the forensic laboratory showed the body to be entirely free from any effects of tear gas exposure.
In the autopsy it was discovered that, as well as the injuries on the back of the neck, there were injuries under the chin, and bruises on both the face and right hand. Bruises were also sustained to the pelvic area and on both knees.
The Head of Public Prosecution at the Capital Governorate also said that investigations so far indicated that there were no clashes with police forces and protestors in that area on Wednesday morning.
He added that investigations were continuing, with statements being reviewed from personnel at the health centre in Sitra relating to the arrival of the body at the centre, along with statements on the circumstances relating to the boy’s death.
“The Government of Bahrain will await a full investigation by the Ministry of Interior before it draws any conclusions. It is also part of the mandate of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) to investigate all incidents of this nature,” the IAA statement added.
