Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa attended a special meeting convened by Norway Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr on the sidelines of the 66th UN General Assembly session to discuss the Palestinian issue.
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad attended. The foreign ministers of the GCC countries, Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and the Arab League secretary-general also took part in the meeting, which was attended by US Deputy Secretary of State for Near East Affairs Jeffrey Feltman and EU Vice-president and high representative for foreign affairs and security policy.
The delegations discussed economic support for the Palestinian Authority and other developments in light of the World Bank reports on the precarious situation in the occupied territories. The meeting discussed means of delivering aid to the Palestinian people.
