The private sector on Sunday welcomed the move of the Government for extending the Labour Market Regulatory Authority’s fee exemption till December, thanks to the Cabinet’s decision for providing a respite to the private sector.
The Ministerial council agreed to prolong freezing the LMRA’s fees till end of this year, therefore extending the exemption period from April to December, 2011.
The Cabinet meeting Chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at Gudaibiya Palace also approved the setting up of the General Directorate for Economic and Electronic Safety and Fighting Corruption. The decision was in line with the directives of HRH the Prime Minister to create an anti-corruption body by broadening the prerogatives of the Interior Ministry’s Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
HRH Prime Minister paid tribute to the Bahraini people for their cohesion and unity describing social interaction as a Bahraini trait which has had a positive impact in strengthening national harmony throughout history.
He hailed the royal address delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa during a meeting yesterday with Bahraini families lauding the royal keenness to further promote values of brotherhood and social interconnectedness.
HRH the Prime Minister commended the royal visions to boost the development momentum in Bahrain on the basis of co-existence, brotherhood and unity.
He also credited Bahraini families for their initiatives to achieve interaction with the leadership. Then, HRH the Premier reviewed the government’s efforts to improve health services and provide the needed care and treatment for incurable diseases.
He briefed the cabinet on the outcome of his recent inspection visit to Abdulrahman Kanoo Centre for Kidney diseases and Dialysis praising the humanitarian initiatives of Bahraini business families.
The cabinet approved a decree-law giving the green light for the setting up of a national fund to compensate for affected people, which will be affiliated with the Human Rights and Social Development Ministry.
The ministerial council discussed measures to protect voters from intimidation and assist them in exercising their political right easily and safely.
It reviewed the experiences of democratic countries in this regard and measures taken against hampers of elections. The cabinet decided to refer the issue to the ministerial committee for legal affairs for further study pledging to further promote democracy in Bahrain and maximize achievements. The International Day of Democracy, the ministerial council lauded the kingdom’s democratic achievements brought about by the royal reform project of His Majesty the King.
HRH the Prime Minister directed to continue the efforts made to preserve the national heritage and archaeological sites in order to protect the Bahraini national identity and project it amid fast-paced developments.
The cabinet approved the reports of the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training (QAAET) on the results of the national exams 2011 and a proposal by the authority to hold an English test for third primary with effect from 2014.
The ministerial council also approved a draft decree to set up Bahrain Centre for Excellence which defines the centre’s jurisdiction and its organizational structure.
The centre aims to promote competitiveness, spread the culture of excellence and boost productivity. The cabinet also approved the final signing of an air services agreement between Bahrain and the Maldives
