The Ministry of Health refuted a statement published in a paper claiming that Dr Saeed Al Samahiji was at the emergency ward and was refused the continuation of his treatment. The ministry called upon the newspaper to be accurate in the information it publishes and to avoid being biased in its coverage.
“The government of Bahrain represented by the ministry cares for the health of all citizens and residents providing them with health services in and out of Bahrain if needed,” the Ministry of Health in a statement said.
Dr Al Samahiji the statement highlighted was one of these examples that required treatment abroad and which the ministry did not hesitate to do so despite his legal situation being arrested in one of the cases related to the recent incidents in Bahrain.
The ministry of health had sent Dr Al Samahiji abroad to complete his treatment at the government’s expense and upon his arrival his family began to cause problems and claimed that the ministry did not care for him by not providing a private room leaving him in the emergency ward.
The ministry of health expressed its dismay over false claims by the family of Dr Al Samahiji despite their knowledge that the ministry extended all assistance during his treatment in Bahrain and abroad.
The ministry’s statement indicated that Dr Samahiji upon his arrival from Jordan on Wednesday was transported from the airport via an ambulance to Salmaniya Medical Complex where a private room (in ward 66) had been reserved for him.
Upon his arrival, he was informed that he would be staying in a private room in Ward 66 but Dr Al Samahiji and his family refused requesting special Ward 413.
Officials informed Dr Al Samahiji’s family that there were no rooms available in the requested ward and once it was made available he would be transferred there.
It is worth noting that a room was reserved for him in Ward 413 but due to his delay abroad it was cancelled and that there were patients in need of this room.
Following several attempts, by the specialist the family accepted that Dr Samahiji be admitted to Ward 66 and that the information published was incorrect.
