The German Orthopaedic Hospital, Bahrain, gave the ‘gift of life’ to two Royal Charity Organization (RCO) registered widows who were in need of immediate orthopaedic surgery. The 2 successful charitable orthopaedic surgeries were performed last month as a part of GOH’s annual CSR commitment to the community – providing world class health care and treatment to the less fortunate.
Patients are exempt from all financial obligations, including the operation, hospital stay at GOH, medicines, reviews, and post-physiotherapies. The surgeons and medical staff generously give their valuable time, at no charge, in order to make this activity possible.
A dedicated annual Ramadan initiative, the medical staff of the German Orthopaedic Hospital last year performed five surgeries for patients from RCO; who needed operations but had the inability to pay the costs of treatment. World-renowned Professor Dr. Heinz Roettinger, GOH Founder and Medical Director, in collaboration with RCO this year again received patients who needed operations, assessing which Hip and Joint surgeries were critical and required immediate surgery.
Two Orthopaedic surgeries were performed this year, a Total Knee Replacement LT surgery and an RT Shoulder Arthroscopic Subacromial Decompression. These surgeries however were only made possible by the generous support received from Bahrain Airport Services to purchase the implants required for the surgery.
An annual initiative, GOH are committed to providing the surgeons valuable time, the medicines and the follow-up treatment free of charge but do require partners to purchase the implants to be able to conduct the surgeries.
