The President of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali in Abu Dhabi attended the extra ordinary meeting of the “Council of Ministers of Arab Finance Ministers” under the chairmanship of His Highness Shaikh Hamadan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Governor of Dubai and Minister of Finance in the UAE.
The bank presented to the meeting a working paper on “Financing Options in Light of International and Arab Changes” highlighting the repercussions of some cases of inextricable relations between financing and real economic activities.
The paper discussed the nature of Islamic financing which is based on the integration of profitable financing with economic activity.
An agreement totaling $150 million was signed on the sidelines of the meeting between the IDB, President and the Sudanese Minister of finance in favor of “Upper Atbara River Project” in Sudan which will help promotes agriculture production and electricity generation in the area of the project.
