Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs denied allegations that women arrested in connection with the trouble caused at the City Centre last Friday are being maltreated.
He stressed the ministry’s commitment to the Islamic faith as well as the Bahraini customs and traditions.
He also underlined the ministry’s keenness to enforce the law, which derives its spirit from these customs and traditions, and preserve women’s dignity.
“Those who are depicting the truth falsely have to know that protecting women and preserving their dignity requires not inciting them into illegal practices,” the Interior Ministry emphasized.
“Measures taken by policewomen were in accordance to the law to stop violations, sowing chaos and prevent transgression of other people’s freedom by disrupting their interests in vital areas.” it added.
“It is the duty of the Interior Ministry to ensure public order and safety,” the Interior Ministry affirmed adding that “those who deny enforcement of the law should heed the reasons which led to that. Keeping a blind eye to the illegal practices is likely to harm the social texture.”
The ministry called on parents to abide by the Bahraini customs and traditions to protect women and preserve their dignity by not encouraging them to take part in illegal acts.
