A post-mortem conducted on the body of a citizen confirmed that he had died of sickle cell complication and not due to inhalation of teargas gas as claimed by the relatives.
Results of the autopsy contradict allegations posted on social networking websites purporting that the man had died after inhaling tear gas. “A post mortem conducted by a medical examiner in the presence of a prosecutor revealed no signs of injuries,” Prosecutor Nayef Yusuf said.
All the medical records also prove that the man passed away at Salmaniya Medical Complex on Wednesday after suffering acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Lab tests conducted on a blood sample taken from the body of the deceased revealed no traces of tear gas inhalation.
The brother of the deceased lodged a complaint with police claiming that his brother died at home of tear gas inhalation on September 10, 2011. The man’s health deteriorated seriously as his family took him to the hospital only three days later (Sept 13). He passed away despite all medical procedures undertaken to save him.
