Bahrain and Pakistan enjoy cordial and friendly ties based on unanimity of views, mutual respect and keenness to explore all possible avenues of further co-operation in all vital sectors of common interests, according to the newly appointed Ambassador of Pakistan Jauhar Saleem.
Ambassador, Jauhar Saleem, who after few weeks of taking up new assignment had already hosted the President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan during his recent visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, is optimistic about the future prospects of mutual co-operation.
In an exclusive interview to 24X7 News he elaborated on the brotherly relations between the people and the leadership of both countries.
The Ambassador said that areas such as politics, economy, banking and finance, trade, culture, investment, joint venture and possible co-operation in education are few but very important areas of common interest.
“There is a lot of room to further develop bilateral ties by identifying the existing potential in all vital aspects of two-way co-operation,” he said.
I would personally, the Ambassador said, take this as a challenge how to further develop these brotherly relations, thanks to the guidance and courage from the top leadership of Pakistan for assigning me this task.
“I personally met with President Zardari before my credentials were sent to Bahrain and the President value the ties with Bahrain at highest esteem.”
The bilateral trade of $200 million per year, according to the Ambassador is just not reflective of the actual potential between the two sides.
During the President Zardari’s visit Bahrain and Pakistan pledged to bolster bilateral relations and consolidate cooperation in the economic, trade and political fields, to the benefit of both countries and people.
Both lealeaders reaffirmed their resolve to boost ties as talks at Al-Safriya Palace on relations of friendship and bilateral cooperation in all fields.
They also discussed political developments on both regional and international arenas. HM the King welcomed President Zardari, stressing the importance of the visit in opening up new horizons for more cooperation.
The two leaders discussed the political situation, stressing the importance of promoting security and stability towards achieving comprehensive development goals.
The two sides agreed to continue their joint coordination and consultation.
