Standard & Poor’s announced the appointment of Stuart Anderson as Regional Manager for Standard & Poor’s in the Middle East. He will report to Torsten Hinrichs, managing director of Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and will be based at Standard & Poor’s regional office in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Anderson has more than 20 years of experience in business development, risk management and governance functions in the financial services sector, mostly in markets throughout Asia and the Middle East. Recently he was Chief Risk Officer at Standard Chartered in Bahrain and over the last four years has been responsible for managing the bank’s wholesale risk management function while based in Abu Dhabi. His prior roles in the Middle East include leading Standard Chartered’s regional non-bank financial institutions business and its wholesale bank business in Qatar.
In his new role, Anderson will be responsible for driving the next phase of growth and development of Standard & Poor’s portfolio of businesses across the Middle East, which spans credit research and ratings, investment indices, equity and fund research, market data, valuation and risk management services.
“We are very pleased to welcome Stuart Anderson to Standard & Poor’s at a time when the outlook for growth and investment in the Middle East presents unique opportunities and challenges for investors,” said Torsten Hinrichs, managing director of Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services in EMEA. “Stuart’s extensive knowledge of global capital markets and his wealth of experience across business development, risk management, governance, investor and government relations leave him very well placed to capitalise on those opportunities as we continue to engage with investors across the region to seek feedback about how best to serve them in the future.”
Anderson will join Standard & Poor’s on September 25 and succeeds Jan Willem Plantagie, Managing Director, who has been appointed Analytical Manager for Automotive and Capital Goods at Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services, based in the company’s Frankfurt office.
