VIVA, the subsidiary of Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and the third mobile operator in Bahrain has become the first to launch all-new Blackberry Bold 9900 on Sunday.
VIVA also announced the launch a range of exclusive new plans and services coincides with the launch of Blackberry new device.
The new plans will offer the best rates available on the local market and will cater to more Blackberry users than ever before. The rate for unlimited Blackberry service has now been reduced for new and existing postpaid customers to BD8 per month, down from BD10. To benefit from the new rates, customers can dial *105*8#.
“This is a great way for us to keep bringing to the market the value and innovation that customers have come to expect of us,” Ulaiyan Al Wetaid, VIVA Acting CEO, said. “The new packages and services are aimed at the growing needs of today’s youth. The new Blackberry Bold 9900 is faster, more powerful and more elegant than ever, so we have upgraded our services to match,” he added.

For the first time in Bahrain, a social bundle for Blackberry is now available from VIVA, aimed at customers whose smart-phone usage is predominantly social networking. Now available for only BD3 per month for postpaid and BD1 per week for prepaid, the service allows users access to BBM and the social networking applications Face-book, Twitter, and MySpace, in addition to instant messaging tools MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and Google Talk. To activate the prepaid service, dial *105*5#, and to activate the postpaid service, dial *105*2#.For a limited promotional period, customers who sign up for this service can enjoy the full Blackberry experience for up to 200MB of data usage as well.
Moreover, VIVA now offers its own application store for Blackberry, the first of its kind in Bahrain. VIVA Blackberry users now have free access to a full-fledged app store offering both free and paid applications in 13 categories such as games, productivity, fitness and finance. Users will not need to create an app store account and does not need a credit card to pay for apps, since the amount will be charged to their bills instead. To access the app store, customers can send an SMS to 88228 in order to receive the URL link to download the app store application.
