Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani praised GCC citizens for their immediate interaction with the Unified GCC News Agencies’ account on Twitter (@gccsocial).
Dr. Al Zayani said the interaction of over 4100 GCC citizens with the new account on social networks is a significant step that will consolidate GCC cooperation and complementarities at the media level, lauding, in this regard, the tremendous efforts exerted by the kingdom’s Information Affairs Authority (IAA) to implement such a landmark project in a record time.
He also said that such a project is part of the joint GCC Media strategy approved by GCC leaders during the 31st GCC Summit held in Abu Dhabi, asserting that such a move will enhance joint GCC action.
It is to be noted that the 14th meeting of GCC news agencies’ officials, held last September 19th, endorsed the proposal of the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) to set up a Unified GCC News Agencies’ Account on social networking systems, in line with the belief of IAA, led by its President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, in the need to take advantage of those social networks in order to consolidate GCC march.
