Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa received a Chinese delegation representing major contracting and infrastructure companies and both sides discussed the possibility of setting up joint ventures (JVs) at private sector level.
They discussed ways of boosting cooperation between Bahrain and China in the contracting and infrastructure field.
The Chinese delegation’s visit aims to get informed about the nature of the economic and investment activities in Bahrain and the legislations regulating them.
The delegation is set to hold a series of meetings with officials from the Housing and Works Ministries, the Tender Board, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company and representatives of the private sector.
They will also meet officials from Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to discuss setting up joint ventures.
The meeting was attended by Finance Ministry Undersecretary Aref Saleh Khamis and officials as well as Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain Yang Weiguo.
