Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan chaired the meeting of the Supreme Vocational Training Council. He stressed Bahrain’s success in bolstering vocational training over the past years, thus becoming a regional centre.
He credited the policies adopted by the panel, playing a crucial role in supplying the labour market with highly-qualified cadres. He urged the council members to exert further efforts towards preserving these standards and expanding the scope of vocational training programmes. The council approved the reformation of the vocal training council in the sector of construction. It discussed exempting private schools from paying vocational training subscription fees for 2011. Criteria have yet to be defined for exemption to take effect as from next year, taking into account legal aspects and differing levels of private schools. The council has also decided to submit a memo to the Cabinet on exempting private companies from paying the 3% vocational training subscription arrears for 2011, starting January 2012, taking into account legal provisions. The council members have agreed to restrict their participation abroad to important forums and conferences. The move is part of efforts to rationalize expenses. Rules regulating such oversea participation will be drawn up, pending the issuance of regulatory bylaws governing vocational councils
