kA high-level trader and business delegation leaves Bahrain on Saturday on a five-day trip to the major business hubs in the United States. The visit was a part of a strategy aimed at enhancing the scope of trade and investments in the light of the free trade agreement between the two sides.
Led by the Economic Development Board (EDB) will start a five-day intensive road show in the USA with the participation of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and accompanied by a number of Bahraini private sector businesses.
The road show will start on the 3rd of October, and will include visits to Los Angeles, Long Beach, Minneapolis and St Paul, where the delegates will hold business and promotional meetings with US local government representatives, business communities and journalists. The objective of the road show is to attract industrial and commercial investments from targeted sectors to the Kingdom, and to help create rewarding job opportunities for Bahrainis. This is to maximize the benefits of bilateral agreements inked between Bahrain and the United States, especially the FTA.
The sectors of interest during this road show will include General Manufacturing, ICT, Logistics, Plastics and Chemicals, Professional Services, Food & Beverages and Aluminum. Meeting will also be held to discuss ways to support US companies seeking to do have a foot in Bahrain and the Middle East.
“This road show is part of the joint plans between the EDB and the private sector. It adds on to earlier road shows in Asia and Europe. We will focus on examining joint investment opportunities in a number of targeted vital sectors, and will highlight the competitive advantages of the investment environment in Bahrain,” Shaikh Mohammed Bin Essa Al-Khalifa, the Chief Executive of the EDB, said, while commenting on the road show.
“Such visits contribute to the creation of high quality job opportunities for citizens that meet the objectives of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and this road show is amongst our continuous efforts to promote Bahrain abroad, which this year will also include other road shows to the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy.”
The President of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Dr. Essam Abdulla Fakhro stressed the importance of promoting the investment environment in Bahrain and marketing the economic and industrial opportunities in various global forums especially economically renowned capitals.
“The importance of this road show increases especially in this period that requires unifying efforts and cooperation with various stakeholders, especially the Economic Development Board, in order to reassure the global economic communities on the stable and safe situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” he added.
Dr. Fakhro indicated the importance of showcasing the main strengths of Bahrain’s investment environment that include political and economic reforms, incentives and investment guarantees, and highlighting the benefits of investing in Bahrain business-friendly environment.
The delegation includes Abdulhameed Al Kooheji, Hamed AlZayani, Khadem Al Saeed, Khalaf Hujair, Khalid Al-Ameen, Khalid Al-Zayani, Mohammed Sajid, Paddy Gallagher, Rahsed Al-Abdullah, Sameer Nass, Samer AlJishi, Shaikh Hamad AlKhalifa and Tawfeeq Almoayed.
Bahrain is now home to over 50 American companies including American Express, Occidental, JP Morgan Chase Bank, Kraft, Fed Ex and Dun and Bradstreet.
During a meeting the members of the BCCI board and the US embassy officials held talks and review the Bahrain-US FTA status and how the existing co-operation can be enhanced during this visit.
