A memorandum of cooperation was signed between Bahrain News Agency and the United Arab Emirates’ News Agency in the presence of GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, the Information Affairs Authority’s President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and the UAE’s National Information Council’s Chairman Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the 19th meeting of GCC Ministers of Information, concluded on Sunday 9th October 2011 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
IAA’s President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa praised the signing of this agreement which emanates from the solid fraternal relations existing between the two brotherly countries and reiterated the important role undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, the foundations for which have been laid down by the wise leadership in both countries.
IAA’s President lauded the signing of this agreement between the two news agencies for boosting bilateral cooperation and coordination and the exchange of news for the benefit of both sides as well as the exchange of expertise and experiences in various fields.
The memorandum of cooperation was signed on behalf of Bahrain News Agency (BNA) by Muhannad Sulaiman Acting Director of the Bahrain News Agency and on behalf of the United Arab Emirates News Agency (WAM) by its Director-General Ebrahim Al-Aabid.
The memorandum stipulates that both news agencies shall exchange news services within the two brotherly countries and expertise in this field.
The two agencies shall also provide each other with important news coverage of events in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
The two agencies shall mutually coordinate their professional stances for regional and international meetings in addition to exchange of expertise and training.
