The court of cassation decided to retain the case to 28th of November in order to articulate the verdict against the murder of two policemen Kashif Ahmed Mandhour and Mohammed Farouq Abdul-Samad, from the Ministry of Interior personnel in which it sentenced the execution of the two defendants and life imprisonment for the remaining five.
Where the Cassation Court has issued its verdict on the prosecution of Ali Abdullah Hassan Al Sankis, Abdul-Aziz Abdul Ridha Ibrahim Hussain, and sentenced Ali Isa Abdulla Kadhim Ali with life imprisonment, while the court modified the sentence of each of Qassim Hassan Mattar Ahmad, Saeed Abdul-Jalil Saeed from death penalty to life imprisonment, and confiscation of the vehicle used to commit the crime.
After issuance of the previous verdicts the Military Prosecutor declared that under the royal decree no. (48) For the year 2011, the death penalties are considered a stab by the force of law before the Cassation Court under the text of the articles (41, 40) from the cassation court law no. (9) for the year of 1989. On August 18 a Law Decree No.(28) was issued for the year 2011 on issues concerning cases during the national safety state, which provided in Article three: “The public prosecutor and defendants to impugn all verdicts issued by the National Safety Appeal Court, in compliance with the provision before the court, and the door shall be open as from the date of that law”
