His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of protecting public money and rationalizing expenditure.
He was speaking as he received at Al-Raoudha Palace National Financial and Administrative Audit Court (NFAAC) Chairman Hassan bin Khalifa Al-Jalahma who submitted the NFAAC 2010 Report. He hailed the crucial role of the auditing institution in assuming this responsibility, hailing the efforts NFAAC chairman and employees and wishing them success.
He also stressed necessity to preserve the independence of the court in assuming its financial and administrative control duties to ensure sound spending of public money and promote the performance of state institutions. Royal Court Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa attended.
Al-Jalahma said he was honoured to submit the NFAAC 2010 Report to HM King Hamad. He pointed out the quantum strides achieved by the court following the promulgation of the law decree 49 for 2010, amending articles of the law establish the auditing institution to bolster its prerogatives and reaffirm its autonomy. “This report, the 8th since the NFAAC inception, features 2010-11 achievements, compiling remarks and recommendations”, he said. The Court undertook 88 auditing assignments and issued 126 reports related to the final accounts of ministries and government departments as well as the final unified state fiscal account and the future generations reserve account. The institution has also managed to issue ten administrative audit reports although it was assigned administrative auditing only months ago.
